Behaviour Specialist

 

Brian is an established provider of nurse-led practice leadership and person-centred approaches to supporting individuals within health and social care settings in Ireland and the Czech Republic. He is currently mentor and consultant to Děti Úplňku (a parents´ association and service provider) based in Prague.

 

Brian is a principled and experienced clinician who, in addition to being a Registered Nurse in Intellectual Disabilities, has acquired formal qualifications in Behaviour Support, Behaviour Management & Critical Incident Stress Debriefing culminating in an M.A. in Behavioural/Cognitive Psychotherapy from University College Cork, Ireland. Currently he is completing a Diploma in Practice Leadership in Restraint Reduction.
He has over 30 years of diverse, practical & applied experience and is highly skilled at Behavioural Assessment/Management/Intervention, Reduction of Restricted Practices, Delivery of Training/Workshops, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, Service Auditing, Risk Assessment and more.
Brian’s philosophy is framed in the Irish word for Respect (Meas) from which he has developed a model of support that focusses on managing ethically and safely when supporting individuals who may present with behaviours that challenge.
